Egon Perilli Annual Meetings of the Endocrine Society of Australia and Society for Reproductive Biology and Australia and New Zealand Bone and Mineral Society 2016

Egon Perilli

Associate Professor in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Device Research Institute, Flinders University, Adelaide, Australia; Supervisor and instrument leader, Large-volume micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) imaging laboratory, Flinders. PhD Bioengineering (Bologna, Italy), MSc Physics (Bologna). 2002-2007 Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute (Bologna), 2008 Application scientist, Skyscan-Bruker; 3D imaging of bone structures and biomaterials combined with biomechanical testing using micro-CT, investigating musculoskeletal diseases, such as osteoporosis and osteoarthritis. The mechanical strength of the bone is determined via experimental testing, for investigating the relationships between bone structure and mechanics. The application of digital volume correlation (DVC) on the images enables to compute displacements and strains, useful to validate finite element predictions. Immediate-Past President, Australian & New Zealand Orthopaedic Research Society (ANZORS), Council member, International Federation of Musculoskeletal Research Societies (IFMRS). https://www.flinders.edu.au/microscopy/materials-characterisation/large-volume-micro-ct-system
