Dr Mitchell Lawrence received his PhD from Queensland University of Technology in 2009. He is a member of the Prostate Cancer Research Group at the Biomedicine Discovery Institute, Monash University and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre where he works with Prof. Gail Risbridger and clinical collaborators. He has received a NHMRC Early Career Fellowship, Movember Young Investigator Grant from the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and an Early Career Seed Grant from the Victorian Cancer Agency. Dr Lawrence's research uses patient-derived models to study tumour cells and their surrounding microenvironment. In particular, he has characterised the defining features of cancer-associated fibroblasts in localised prostate cancer. He has also developed a collection of patient-derived xenografts as new preclinical models of prostate cancer.
