Cassy is a senior postdoctoral researcher and Career Track Fellow of the School of Biomedical Sciences (SBMS), UQ. Her PhD studies, investigating fetal germ cell cycle control, were with Prof Koopman at the IMB. In 2016 she moved to SBMS, working with A/Prof Josephine Bowles continuing her research focusing on the normal and malignant development of male germ cells, in particular the control of germ cell pluripotency. She is working with international collaborators in Denmark (Copenhagen University Hospital) and The Netherlands (Princess Maxima Centre for Paediatric Oncology) to extend these fundamental studies, aiming to develop diagnostic screening methods for testicular cancer. Cassy is also collaboratorating with Dr Svingen, DTU, Denmark, investigating whether environmental chemical exposure affects gonadal development and fertility, focusing specifically on the retinoic acid signalling pathway. Her research is currently supported by the ARC, Rebecca L Cooper Foundation, Kids’ Cancer Project and the Children’s Hospital Foundation.
